    huisjes transpOrxeta el pueblo

Orxeta, known as Orxeta in Valencian, is situated in the province of Alicante within the Valencia region, offering a hidden gem along the Costa Blanca. Nestled amidst mountains with direct connections to the rugged interior, this charming village remains relatively undiscovered. The protective embrace of these mountains provides a favorable microclimate, cocooning the village like loving arms.

Orxeta huisjesEvery year, the valley surrounding Orxeta bursts into cheerful orange hues as fruit trees laden with oranges and ripe nisperos, a fresh and oval-shaped fruit, dot the landscape. Beyond the vibrant fruit, the picturesque traditional houses add splashes of Mediterranean warmth with their hues of blue, green, yellow, and red.

Prideful Orxetans embellish the streets with pots overflowing with brightly colored flowers, including vibrant purple bougainvilleas, orange strelitzias, and soft blue "Forget-me-not" plants. En route to the bakery or village shop, where essential amenities await, residents greet each other with a friendly 'bon dia'. Tidiness is a virtue here, evident not only in the warmth of the greetings but also in the cleanliness of the streets. Sidewalks are diligently swept and mopped, while the municipal road sweeper adds a delightful fragrance to the air as it passes through the streets.

A fragrance of white jasmine blossoms

    Orxeta avond

Evening strolls offer delightful surprises as the scent of white jasmine mingles with the fragrance of orange blossoms, infusing the streets with a touch of summer. Residents often gather in front of their homes to share stories of the day. Along the way, you'll encounter the authentic washing place, restored to its former glory, where ladies once gathered to do their weekly laundry. A visit to the village square is a must, especially in the evening when the old church is beautifully illuminated. Relax on the terrace at the town hall and soak in the atmosphere as Spaniards prepare for the village festival held in September.

    Water source in Orxeta

Orxeta waterbronIn 1924, a water source was tapped which still provides delicious drinking water to this day. Often, you can see villagers taking a walk with their plastic bottles to this tap point, which features three marble-carved basins where they fill their bottles and have a chat. We also fill our own water here, giving you a sense of how things must have been in the past.
Casa Oliveira does not have a private pool, but a refreshing swim is not far away: the public municipal pool is located at the edge of the village and is accessible for a fee during the summer months.
